Zwiespalt is a magazine that engages with seemingly ambivalent topics and aims to find a shared consensus. It does so by examining each subject in all its different facets. The publication can be understood as a collection of various articles, photo series, and interviews, covering a wide range of cultural, artistic, and political themes. Each issue is dedicated to two opposing topics. Readers can enter the magazine from either side, with each half focusing on one of the themes. As one moves further into the magazine, the overarching topics gradually begin to approach each other and enter into a dialogue. For my first issue, I chose the theme of luxury versus necessity.
